JOB POSTING: GBID Seeks Maintenance Assistant

The Geneva Business Improvement District (GBID) seeks a hard-working, dedicated, self-starting individual to join the team that keeps our business district looking clean, safe and inviting. The GBID promotes an attractive and viable 18.5-acre downtown district for property owners, business people, tenants, shoppers and visitors. We also plan and coordinate events, promote and market businesses, administer grants and support merchants.

The Job
The Maintenance Assistant is responsible for keeping downtown clean, in good repair, safe of debris or weather-produced hazards, and attractive for property and business owners, residents and visitors. The selected individual will support delivery of the organization mission and assist with a variety of projects and events undertaken by the GBID. This position reports to the GBID Executive Director and works in coordination with the Maintenance Supervisor.

Requirements
The successful candidate will be able to:
• Maintain BID standards in accordance with all local rules, regulations and laws
• Must have valid driver’s license
• Demonstrate a basic knowledge of landscaping and equipment repair capabilities
• Perform physically intensive labor and be able to lift up to 100 pounds
• Manage seasonal snow removal
• Collect trash and refuse at receptacles and around the district
• Assist with event set-up and tear-down
• Communicate diplomatically with property/business owners and the public
• Maintain a daily activity log
• Additional duties as assigned

Job Details
The GBID Maintenance Assistant role provides flexible hours and solid compensation:
• Hours: 25 to 30 per week (flexible schedule)
• Wage: commensurate with experience
